Sinulog: Experienced with Santo Niño

With Santo Niño

I believe that we still have different experiences though we are in the same place. We may have the same goal but we have different ways to attain it. Or we might think of the same thing but we do not agree on the choices. My point is actually sharing with you my strange experiences, thoughts and purposes during the Sinulog Festival. Of course you are entitled to your own. It would be boring if I will write everything so I will only highlight some important events in my journey during the celebration. Please lend your eyes and patience to go through with this without any interest…

During the grand procession the day prior the main event I did not join. The faithful devotees of Sr. Santo Niño may take charge of something against me but that was really what happened. I am also a religious and faithful man but that time is not for me. I gave it to guests and visitors. I knew I will add the very crowded march of devotees. Again, I did not join instead I walked to colon and just observed what the other people are doing. And I see people who were somehow similar what I did. But the important is I there was something in my mind.

Suddenly, it came out to my mind the wonder of the Festival. I said to myself, “Like this situation we need something to let the people came together in one place and do something more than this”. Imagine very far places that these people came from, let the people sacrificing, walking because jeepneys and other vehicles are no longer allowed to enter, maintaining security, spending time all night in Mango Avenue, Fuente Osmeña, Sogo, etc., quite costly because people, media, government, agencies, and institutions were integrated and concentrated in one place and a particular event. These things were made possible because of one thing, Sinulog Festival. One beat, one dance and one vision as according to the mighty theme.

The Sinulog Festival is really great. I think the idea behind this can also be used for another. I mean, it did integrating the people, media, schools etc. , we can also do it for another reason, right? Well, it may take long to do because Sinulog is a tradition, a long practice. It is based on norms. But the thing is we could copy the spirit of this practice and put it on another way. And that is the subject of my another blog.

My experienced with Santo Niño was really momentous. I was able to think another possibilities to let the people again unite and integrated. You! How did you go with Santo Niño during the Sinulog Celebration?

More than friendster. This is a better vice for you.

It was not so long time ago that I became a member of the Friendster Community because I just learn basics of computer and internet. That was when I am already in college. During my high school years these things are no known to me. So I got difficulty at first in making my account. Actually my intention of entering this world of friendster was just not to be left behind to the fad of friendster because I think I was the only one who has not yet. And fortunately I made it with the help of my friends. But later part of my experiences with the friendster, I found myself addicted on it. I usually visit my account and put something new and designs on it. Unknowingly, I enhance my ability and knowledge about this technology. But after all of these I realized that it is not enough. I should not only rely on adding friends, changing layouts, etc. but I must have also find another ways to enhance my skills in essay writing and more. Unexpected time has come to me. I was approach by another friend of mine who introduces his new vice, a blog. Then I got curious what is it about and how it differs with other blogs which I could also found in friendster. Then, he said, this is something different. This is cool. You will be earning money from this. Just create an account in www.blogspot.com with your gmail account and start blogging. You should also apply for the adsense program because it is there where you could get money from relevant ads of your content site. Oh really! I said. And I really found it very cool and interesting. I created my own site which is dependent on my desire. I have my new storage of my ideas. And I have a new vice better than friendster. Well, I did not leave or delete my friendster account. I just make something more than it which I could also make myself proud of. Blogs is really cool as I have experience. Maybe you could also do same what I have started and with my fellow bloggers. Try to experience it by accepting the challenge. Yes you can do it. Promise!

My Only Christmas gift… The Waste that is never

It is natural that on Christmas season we expect something to come. Most likely it is wrapped in a Christmas wrapper, right? Though we do not know what it is and who will give us. That’s also the nice thing in Christmas things almost always put into surprises. Have you received what you expect? Did you receive an unexpected gift during Christmas?

The kind of gift to be shared during Christmas varied. I mean it differs in the status of the people. Rich people will receive or give expensive gift/s while poor individuals will receive the otherwise or vice versa sometimes. However, there are gifts that neither expensive nor cheap but valuable. These gifts cannot be wrapped with a Christmas wrapper or any other kind of wrapper. This is the gift that I had during Christmas. What is it? Just continue reading.

Christmas vacation is something very interesting and enjoyable. It is part of the tradition especially for Filipinos to have break for students, employees, etc. in order to spend much time with the families. And in the family several activities would be generated for the family has come together again. There may be exchanging gifts, “videoke’s, and Christmas parties”. But whatever it is the question is what my gift was?

My gift was only one; an idea that eventually changes the way I look at plastic wrappers. I got an idea of recycling plastics. It was an accident because I never thought about it. I think that was a heaven-sent idea that let me make a way to help the environment. Collecting plastics especially those from junk foods wrapper and cut them out, put in a plastic cover usually thick plastic to make a kind of foam. This idea actually is not new. I learned this during my high school days because we are taught about it but the thing is I utilized it to help the environment. So at that moment I gave an assignment to my younger brothers and sisters to collect plastic wrappers to make something like foam. This activity may be hassle or naïve for other people but this thing is really great. Working on this has many advantages. The plastic wrappers which to be thrown will be utilized in the very simple manner. And in this sense we are saving our time in many ways for trash collectors, scavengers, etc. We are also saving the resources for recycling. And the most important is we are saving our environment from other activities using the same resources.

We are thinking that after eating those kind of foods the plastics has no use at all. We are wrong. The wastes that we think like plastic wrappers are never waste actually. Wastes are supposed to be thrown because they are useless. Hey this is not.

So what was my Christmas gift?

2009 Horrorscope... Year of Change?

As the year of 2009 begun people also begun asking what would be the future of our world in this particular year with the fact that it follows the great crisis in the US. Some also are pointing out some relevant occurrence several decades ago especially those ends with number 9. They mean the example to be associated with like the fall of the Berlin Wall which was also the end of the Cold War made the birth of the new international system, Globalization; the rise of the Windows. That was 1898 ans 1998. And there are still many instances in the past most likely those bad happenings that may associated with this year. Many people are afraid of to let those happened again this year.

So some questions are what would be our opportunities and risks in this particular year we are at. Are we ready now? Do we have the enough resources to move on? Actually, It is not only the people who are worried of the future. You may be charge me on calling something but I will include all other forms in the earth and beyond. We may think that they just rely on us but they exist along with us. The point is everything is affected whatever may happen in this year. The opening question of this year is very good for we would be always aware of our plans, motivations and actions. You know sometimes we lose our direction towards our goals in life. I do not know the specific reason but maybe because we make ourselves busy with things unnecessary but enjoyable, right?

The year 2009 predictions and forecasts varied. From the perspective of Feng Sui, it is the year of the Ox, year for hardworking. Also, the analysis of Geomancy claimed that it is the year of competition and struggle. Meanwhile, some are saying this year is the year of the hackers from Computer Crime research Center, a year of the thaw according to the Money Magazine, etc, etc. This year may be a prosperous year, a year of crisis, more sufferings or whatever; the thing is we are not sure of what would really happen ahead. All are mere forecasts and predictions.

But do we just rely on what some people are saying based on their measurement used in determining our uncertain future? They were not sure. We are human beings, the inhabitants in this world who are capable of solving problems, capable of overcoming such fears. We can do beyond forecasts. The only thing that we should always to put into mind is that in this year, we will do something for a change. This is the world that God entrusted us to be utilized, cared and loved. I know we can do more than what had happened in the past. We developed and improved therefore we should say Yes We Can! Let us label this year as the Year of Change.

Yes We Can

I think all people don't want to be stagnant. It is because like other things around people need to be changed. Life is dynamic just like the relationship. Without it life is nonsense, there’s no need to live this life. The thing is everyone wants to proceed because we want a convenient and comfortable type of living. Staying in the same place eternally would mean of mediocre or lesser than this if there is. As long as we live we need something. And every time we need we desire for the best, right? We should not just content with what we have right now. We should long for more. Ask for another.

When I was still a child I want to grow faster to become an adult quickly because I saw my elder brothers who have work already and support themselves. They had their own work, earnings and most especially they were free. The lesson there is not about jealousy but moving on the next stage quickly if possible because there is more ahead than where I stay at. I don’t want to be stagnant.

My point here is I want to associate it with other lives. Those lives that is stagnant. They don’t know how to move on. I’m referring to less fortunate individuals. They suffer much of poverty and other basic needs. I know they don’t like what they are. They want more but the thing is they are deprived. They do not have the resources. But some people would ask, are they useful on the first place? The answer is yes because they can do actually what you wanting them to do. They were people like us. They just need guidance and commands. That’s the problems with them. But we cannot also blame them because they lack proper education. And when somebody ask me, is that possible? And I should say yes of course! I think is possible because we not stagnant. Our government can even do more. Other sectors in our society are already started . They are in fact waiting for you to join them. And therefore together we should also say, actually Yes We Can!
